Individuals in Bermuda do not pay personal income tax. Instead, the Government of Bermuda levies a Payroll Tax.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Investment_options_available_to_acquire_the_citizenship_and_passport_of_Antigua_and_Barbuda\"><\/span><strong>Options d&#039;investissement disponibles pour acqu\u00e9rir la citoyennet\u00e9 et le passeport d&#039;Antigua-et-Barbuda.&nbsp;<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Once applicants have held a residency in Bermuda for ten years they may be eligible to apply for Bermuda Citizenship and therefore become British Overseas Territories citizens. Citizenship rules vary depending on the individual&#8217;s circumstances and connections with the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A. Certificat d&#039;investissement \u00e9conomique (EIC)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It provides you and your family the opportunity of living and work on the island for five years to see your investment prospects realized. After which, you are eligible to apply for the Residential Certificate for the right to reside in Bermuda indefinitely.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Exigences et qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">To be eligible for an Economic Investment Certificate (EIC), an applicant must make a &#8220;Qualifying Investment&#8221; of at least BM$2.5 million in one or more of the following classes:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8211; Residential or commercial real estate in Bermuda;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8211; An existing Bermuda-based business;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8211; The development and launch of a new Bermuda-based business;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8211; Bermuda Government bonds;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8211; Bermuda Registered charity in the areas of sports development, youth, seniors, and health;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8211; The Bermuda Trust Fund or Sinking Fund; or<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8211; Other social or useful venture that benefits Bermuda, Bermudians, and things Bermudian may be determined by the Minister responsible for Immigration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have not been convicted of an indictable or dishonesty offense, be of good character, and be in compliance with the Bermuda Department of Health requirements and protocols. Persons already residing in Bermuda who satisfy the criteria can also apply. The same requirements also apply to the dependents as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Des frais de dossier de BM$2,625 sont exigibles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Ongoing requirements for successful EIC applicants include the obligation to maintain the &#8220;Qualifying Investment&#8221; for at least five years and that the applicant resides in Bermuda for at least 90 days in each of the five years following the grant of the EIC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The EIC granted by the new policy is valid for five years, after which EIC holders are eligible to apply for a &#8220;Residential Certificate&#8221;. Permanent Resident\u2019s Certificate<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If you have a Permanent Resident\u2019s Certificate (PRC), you have the right to live and work in Bermuda and to purchase Bermuda property with a lower&nbsp;<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.bm\/node\/13821\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Valeur Locative Annuelle (VLA)<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">La loi de 2021 sur l&#039;immigration et la protection des Bermudes entrera en vigueur le 1er d\u00e9cembre 2021.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Le minist\u00e8re de l&#039;Immigration commencera \u00e0 accepter les demandes en vertu des dispositions de la l\u00e9gislation modifi\u00e9e le 1er\u00a0janvier\u00a02022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>2021 Amendment&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The 2021 amendment act enables certain long-term residents to apply for a permanent resident\u2019s certificate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Government&#8217;s proposal aims to address this issue by expanding the eligibility criteria for the granting of PRC under section 31A, to include any person who has been ordinarily resident in Bermuda for at least 20 years. While the policy paper states that this change is aimed at assisting &#8220;<em>Persons who have continuously worked in Bermuda and seek to continue to make Bermuda their home<\/em>&#8220;, it does not appear that having worked (as opposed to merely having resided) in Bermuda will be a condition of acceptance, although the amending legislation remains to be seen.<\/p>\n<p>The cost of the PRC application under section 31A is also to be reduced, from $50,000 to $10,000.<\/p>\n<p>This change will be beneficial for LRT work permit holders, as well as their employers, who would no longer need to renew their work permits and pay the related fees.<\/p>\n<p>The policy paper also sets out proposed changes to assist mixed-status families, under which the following categories of people will now be eligible for PRC:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Persons who were born or arrived in Bermuda at an early age and have been ordinarily resident in Bermuda;<\/li>\n<li>A divorced or unwed parent of a Bermudian child;<\/li>\n<li>Children of first- and second-generation PRC holders who have been ordinarily resident in Bermuda.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These changes will assist, amongst others, non-Bermudian parents of Bermudian children, who would otherwise have had to leave the island after their child&#8217;s 18th birthday, and second-generation PRC holders who are currently unable to pass PRC on to their children.<\/p>\n<p>The current application fee for a PRC under section 31B will remain at&nbsp;$3,150.<\/p>\n<p>The aforementioned changes are to be read in conjunction with the requirements given below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Exigences et qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Vous pouvez demander un certificat de r\u00e9sident permanent \u00e0 partir du 1er janvier 2022 si :<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Vous r\u00e9sidez habituellement aux Bermudes depuis au moins 20 ans, y compris les deux ann\u00e9es pr\u00e9c\u00e9dant imm\u00e9diatement sa demande\u00a0;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Vous r\u00e9sidez habituellement aux Bermudes depuis au moins 15 ans, y compris les deux ann\u00e9es pr\u00e9c\u00e9dant imm\u00e9diatement sa demande s&#039;il est le parent non bermudien d&#039;un fils ou d&#039;une fille qui poss\u00e8de le statut bermudien\u00a0;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Vous \u00eates le fils, la fille ou le conjoint d&#039;une personne qui a obtenu un PRC.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">En dessous de&nbsp;<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bermudalaws.bm\/Laws\/Consolidated%20Laws\/Bermuda%20Immigration%20and%20Protection%20Act%201956.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Article 31A<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, vous pouvez pr\u00e9senter une demande de CRP au ministre de l&#039;Immigration si\u00a0:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Vous avez \u00e9t\u00e9 exempt\u00e9 de la partie V de la loi de 1956 sur l&#039;immigration et la protection des Bermudes, en vertu de l&#039;article 5 de la loi de 1968 sur le d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique pendant au moins 10 ans\u00a0;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Vous r\u00e9sidez habituellement aux Bermudes depuis au moins 10 ans\u00a0;
